Claflin Dominates Tuskegee to Advance in the SIAC Baseball Championships

Ozark, Ala.—Jalen Thompson scored four runs and Christopher Gilliam added three runs as the Claflin University baseball team defeated Tuskegee University 15-4 in the 2016 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) baseball tournament at Historic Eagle Stadium in Ozark, Ala.
 
With the win the Panthers improve to 22-27 on the season.
 
Claflin offense was solid all day, scoring in each of the six innings played.  The Panthers put up one run in each of the first and second, three in each of the third and fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth, en route to its 15 runs.
 
In addition to two runs on the day, Elliott Melton added three hits with one RBI in the win.  Reginald Rogers had one hit with two walks and four RBI's while Jeturi Brown contributed one run with three hits and one RBI.  Lyndale Morley had a homerun for Claflin who finished the game with 12 total hits and 11 RBI's.
 
Keamond Eison, who has won his last four starts, picked up the win.
 
The Panthers will face Stillman College for a chance to advance to the championship game.  First pitch is set for 3 p.m. (CST).
