Claflin Men Fall to Fort Valley State 71-70 in SIAC Basketball Contest

Box Score Fort Valley, Ga.—The Claflin University men's basketball team fell to Fort Valley State University (FVSU) by one, 71-70, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) men's basketball contest.
 
The loss snaps a seven game win streak for the Panthers who drops to 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC.
 
FVSU improves to 8-10 overall and 6-3 in the SIAC.
 
Triston Thompson led all scorers with 15 points, including 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
 
Ryan McNeill-Moses was one point shy of a double-double with nine points with a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Benjamin Williams scored eight points with seven rebounds while Austin Lawton dropped in seven points with a game-high five rebounds for the Panthers.
 
James Barnes led three FVSU players in double-figures with 14 points.  Denard Williams scored 12 points and five rebounds while Jaylon McMillan added 10 points for the Wildcats in the win.
 
Claflin held a slight three point advantage at the half, 37-34.
 
The Panthers will return home on Saturday, Jan. 28, when they host Paine in a SIAC matchup.  Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. in Tullis Arena on the campus of Claflin University.
