Claflin Falls to Bluefield State in Series Finale

Orangeburg, S.C. -- Bluefield State College defeated Claflin University, 13-8, an NCAA Division II non-conference baseball game Sunday at Historic Mirmow Field.
 
Claflin, which dropped to 3-12 on the season, won the three-game series 2-1.
 
Bluefield improved to 3-6 with the win.
 
Addison Meeks picked up the win for Bluefield State, while Aaron Perry was the loser for the Panthers.
 
Claflin was led by Darrell Langston with a three-run homer and 3 RBIs. Michael Kendrick had two hits and 2 RBIs while Craig Hopkins, Reginald Rogers and Johnathan Parnell, II added two hits each.
 
Bluefield State was led by Logan Wriston with three hits and 3 RBIs. Drew D'Angelo contributed four hits and an RBI for Bluefield State.
 
Bluefield State erupted for eight runs in the seventh to wipe out a 7-2 Claflin lead. The visitors tacked on three more runs in the eighth inning en route to the victory.
 
The two teams combined for 31 hits, with the Panthers collecting 15, giving Claflin 33 in the weekend series. The Panthers pushed across 29 runs in the three-game set.
 
Langston pounded the Bluefield State pitching staff for three home runs over the weekend.
 
Claflin will take a 10-day break from competition, returning to the field Tuesday (March 7) at home against the College of Saint Rose at 6 p.m.
