McNeill-Moses Leads Claflin Past Clark Atlanta in SIAC Men’s Basketball Contest

Orangeburg, S.C. (2-4-17) Ryan McNeill-Moses scored a game-high 23 points with nine rebounds to lead Claflin past Clark Atlanta, 82-70, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) men's basketball contest Saturday in Tullis Arena.
 
The win, the third straight and the 10th in 11 games, pushes the Panthers to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the SIAC.
 
Austin Lawton and Benjamin Williams came off the bench to contribute 16 and 10 points, respectively.  Tyler Thompson and Trevor Dantzler contributed eight points apiece while Jaleel Charles rejected five shots in the win.
 
Tajai Johnson led four Clark Atlanta (14-9, 8-4 SIAC) players in double-figures with 22.  Derek Harper added 15 points and Damien Davis and Tim Sanders added 13 and 11 points, respectively.  Lawrance Triplett scored six points with six rebounds for Clark Atlanta in the loss.
 
Claflin dominated Clark Atlanta in every aspect of the contest except three point field goals.
 
The Panthers knocked down 14 more total fields goals than Clark Atlanta (35-21) and outrebounded Clark Atlanta by 15 (41-26).  In addition, Claflin scored 58 points in the paint compared to just 22 for Clark Atlanta.
 
Clark Atlanta connected on eight three pointers compared to two for Claflin.
 
The Panthers trailed Clark Atlanta by three at the half, 40-37.
 
Claflin will host Morehouse College, Monday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m.  The Panthers will then hit the road for their next two contests beginning Thursday, Feb. 9, when they travel to Augusta, Ga. to take on Paine College.
