Claflin Baseball Take a Pair of Games from Lincoln University

Orangeburg, S.C.--The Claflin University baseball team defeated Lincoln University (Pa.), 7-2 and 16-9, in a pair of NCAA Division II non-conference games Saturday at Historic Mirmow Field.
 
With the doubleheader sweep, Claflin extends its win streak to three games and improve to 6-13 on the season. The Panthers have won five of their last seven games since snapping a four-game losing streak.
 
In the first game, Claflin received a brilliant pitching performance from Eric Dubose. In going the distance, Dubose held the Lions in check with four hits with no earned runs.  Dubose, 1-3, faced just eight batters (29) over the seven-inning limit of 21.
 
Terence Berry, who also went the distance on the mound, suffered the loss for Lincoln.
 
The Panthers bats provided Dubose with most of the runs he needed in the second inning, scoring four times. Claflin added three more runs in the sixth.
 
The Panthers were led by Elliott Melton with a hit and two RBIs. Jonathan Parnell, II had two hits and a RBI, while Darrell Langston contributed a hit and an RBI.
 
Lincoln had four players with a hit each.
 
In the second game, the Claflin offense pounded out 14 hits in the win.
 
Travis Martinez, 1-0, recorded the win for Claflin, while Orlando Roberson was the loser for Lincoln.
 
Langston, Rashad Webster and Silvaris Hooks, Jr., led the Panthers with one hit and two RBIs each. Melton had two hits and an RBI for Claflin, while Harold Smith added two hits.
 
Lincoln, 4-9, was led at the plate by De'Vante Parker with two hits and 2 RBIs. Ronald Lashley had a pair of hits and an RBI.
 
Claflin will return to action at home Tuesday (Mar. 14) for a mid-week game against Augusta University at 6 p.m.
