Claflin Drops Non-conference Baseball Decision to Lander

Greenwood, S.C. (4-11-17) – The Claflin University baseball team dropped a non-conference decision to Lander University, falling 14-0, in Greenwood on Tuesday (Apr. 11), in Greenwood, S.C.
 
With the loss, Claflin falls to 9-27 overall.
 
Lander improves to 18-21.
 
The Bearcats scored one run in the first, five in the second, six in the third and two in the eight en route to its 14 runs.
 
The bright spot for the Panthers in the contest was sophomore Elliott Melton who had two hits on the day.
 
The Bearcats outhit the Panthers 10-5.
 
Colton Rogers earned the win for the Bearcats while Jamal Devin was the losing pitcher of note.
 
The Panthers will look to get back on track this weekend, Friday-Saturday, Apr. 14-15, when they return to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against Clark Atlanta University.
 
Friday's game will be part of the Jackie Robinson HBCU Classic at Fluor Field in Greenville.  The series then moves to Atlanta, Ga. for a doubleheader on Saturday.
