Claflin Sweeps Clark Atlanta in SIAC Baseball Series

Lyndale Morley had five hits, including a double and homerun, along with four runs and five RBIs as the Claflin University baseball team swept Clark Atlanta in a pivotal Southern Intercollegiate (SIAC) eastern division baseball three game series.
 
The three wins, snaps a four game losing streak, but more importantly push the Panthers ahead of Clark Atlanta for fourth place in the eastern division.  The top four teams from each division will compete for the SIAC Championship scheduled for May 4-7 in Augusta, Ga.
 
Claflin defeated Clark Atlanta 9-3 on Friday (Apr. 14) at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
 
On Saturday (Apr. 15) the Panthers won the double-header at Bill Evans Field in Atlanta, Ga., winning game one 6-4 and closing out the series with a 12-9 victory.
 
The Panthers bats were connecting on all cylinders over the weekend, as they finished with 35 hits (2 doubles-3 homeruns) and 24 RBIs over the three games.
 
The Panthers senior class was solid over the weekend as Johnny Stevenson contributed four hits, including a homerun, with five runs and two RBIs.
 
Senior Rashad Webster finished with five hits (one double) along with five runs and three RBIs.
 
Senior Reginald Rogers had three runs with three hits, including a homerun, and two RBIs.
 
Senior Keamond Eison had a solid performance in the opening game of the series, going eight strong innings allowing only three earned runs en route to the win.
 
Torriun Towers went four and two-thirds to pick the victory in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.  Elijah McKinnis earned the save.
 
Morley pitched the final two and two-thirds innings in game two on Saturday to pick up the win.
 
Claflin will host Francis Marion in a mid-week non-conference game on Wednesday, Apr. 19.  First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Historic Mirmow Field.
