Claflin Defeats Paine in Final Game of SIAC Baseball Series

Augusta, Ga.—Claflin University baseball team closed out its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) three-game series with Paine College with an 8-6 win in Augusta Sunday (Apr. 2).
 
With the win the Panthers improve to 9-23 overall and 3-6 in the SIAC.  Paine falls to 14-14 and 6-3 in the SIAC.
 
Darrell Langston led the offense for Claflin with two runs, two hits, and a RBI.
 
Rashad Bivens also had multiple hits on the day with three.
 
Elliott Melton, Silvaris Hooks, Jr., Lyndale Morely, and Johnny Stevenson all had one run in the win.
 
Gabriel Guzman scored two runs with four hits and Ricky Carvajai had three hits for Paine in the loss.
 
After a solid performance by Eric DuBose over seven innings, Elijah McKinnis came in to pitch two solid innings en route to picking up the win.
 
Hardvis Batista was credited with the loss for the Lions.
 
Claflin will host Lander in a non-conference mid-week game at Historic Mirmow Field.  First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
