Claflin Baseball a Pair of Non-Conference Games Saturday to St. Thomas University (FL)

Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Claflin University baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to St. Thomas University Saturday (Feb. 3) at Paul Demie Mainieri Field in Miami Gardens, Fla.
 
The Panthers dropped game one 14-4 and fell in game two 3-1.  The losses gave St. Thomas University (FL) the three-game series sweep.
 
Claflin (0-3) knocked out four hits with seven walks and three stolen bases in the game one.  Eric McElveen had two of the Panthers hits with one run.  Darrell Langston and Ashtin Knowles finished the game with one hit apiece.
 
St. Thomas University (3-0) scored its 14 runs off 15 hits along with 11 RBIs.
 
Aaron Perry was the loser of game one.
 
Game two of the doubleheader was the best defensive game of the weekend for Claflin.  The Panthers held St. Thomas University (FL) to three runs and five hits.
 
Langston knocked out one hit, a double, with an RBI.  Knowles scored the Panthers lone run with one hit.
 
Dillon Parker, who went five innings was the losing pitcher of game two.
 
Claflin will host Lincoln Memorial in its 2018 home-opener.  First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg.
