Claflin Sweeps Lincoln (Pa.) in Baseball

Orangeburg, S.C. (Feb. 26)- The Claflin University baseball team extended its early season winning streak to five games on Tuesday (Feb. 26), taking a double header from Lincoln University (Pa.) by the scores of 10-1 and 6-2 at the Historic Mirmow Field.
 
Claflin is 9-3 on the season, the program best-ever start since joining the NCAA Division II ranks last season. The Panthers also improved to 7-3 at home.
 
Lincoln drops to 0-7 with the loss.
 
Edzaviah Paul and Gerardic Dobbs had three runs each in game one.  Dobbs was the overall top offensive player in game one finishing with three hits and a walk.  Paul had two hits with a walk in the contest.
 
The Panthers also got runs from Grayland Fowler (1), Eric McElveen (1), Clyde Parker (1) and Nicholas Johnson who had a home run in the win.
 
Jamal Devine was the winning pitcher for game one.
 
The runs were distributed evenly in game two, as six different players crossed the plate. Fowler, Paul, Dobbs, Johnson, Parker and Lyndale Morley all had one run in game two.  Paul continued his hot hitting from game, knocking in the Panthers second home run on the day.
 
Torriun Towers was the winner in game two.
 
Claflin will try to continue its hot streak this weekend in a three-game series at home against Miles College of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The series kickoff off on Saturday (Mar. 2) with a double header at 1 p.m. and concludes on Sunday (Mar. 3) with a single game with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
