Claflin Baseball Comes from Behind to defeat The College of Saint Rose

Orangeburg, SC (03-06-19) — Molik Brown hit a grand slam in the bottom sixth to put Claflin ahead 11-8 and Jalen Sprull followed with a two-run homer in the same inning as the Panthers came from as many as six down to defeat The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights 21-9 Wednesday (Mar. 6) at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg.
 
With its third straight win, the Panthers improved to 12-4 on the season. The Golden Knights drop to 1-5 after dropping an extra inning contest to Augusta earlier in the day.
 
Malik James finished the game with four runs a hit and a walk to lead Claflin offensively.  Brown finished the game with three runs, two hits and five RBIs.
 
The Panthers had four players total to score two or more runs as Craig Hopkins, Clyde Parker, Malik Sadler and Kyriq Woods all finished with two runs.
 
As a team, Claflin out-hit The College of Saint Rose, 14-9, while recording 19 RBIs.
 
Chris Buford, who entered the game top of the sixth was credited with the win for Claflin.
 
The Panthers, who beat The College of Saint Rose for the first time since the 2017 season, will host Florida Southern College in a three-game series beginning Friday, March 8.
