

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (5-3, 3-0 CIAA) opened the 2021 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Volleyball Round Up in style when the team took a four-set win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (1-9, 0-3 CIAA), Saturday morning. The Lady Panthers added some potent offense to go along with their trademark defense to claim the win.
As a team, the Lady Panthers played well on both offense and defense to claim the win. The team totaled 38 kills with junior outside hitter
Mya Broom leading the way with 10 kills in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Branch added nine kills of her own. Defensively, senior middle blocker
Sadaiya Edouard led the way with seven block assists in the match.
The Lady Panthers took a 25-21 win in the opening set before claiming a 25-19 win in the second set. In the third set, the Lady Panthers allowed Bowie State to take a 25-23 win before closing the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in CIAA play. The team would go on to compete against the Virginia Union Panthers later in the day.
