Four Claflin Student-Athletes Selected for the Career in Sports Forum

Indianapolis, Ind. – Four Claflin University student-athletes has been selected as participants in the 2021 Career in Sports Forum hosted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).  The Forum will be held virtually May 26-28, 2021.
 
Student-Athletes selected are seniors Gerardric Dobbs (baseball), Gari Forehand (women's track and field), and Chaston Huntly (softball) along with junior Matthew Rox (men's track and field).
 
The 2021 Career in Sports Forum will bring together selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics. This unique virtual programming experience will help student-athletes chart their career paths while presenting copious opportunities for attendees to learn from current industry leaders.
 
"It's important for our student-athletes to be well-rounded," said Director of Athletics Tony O'Neal. "I am extremely proud of these four student-athletes and know that they will represent Claflin University Athletics with the utmost confidence."
 
Notable speakers will cover the following topics and more to prepare attendees for success navigating their futures: self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; developing a career plan; managing yourself as a professional in the sports industry. Through online panels, engaging breakout sessions, keynote presentations, and facilitated discussions, program participants will complete their experience with a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path and where they fit into the industry's landscape.
