Lady Panthers Picked Second in CIAA Pre-Season Predicted Order of Finish
BALTIMORE, MD - The Claflin Lady Panthers will have a lot to live up to in the upcoming season as the team was picked to finish second in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Predicted Order of Finish. The prediction came after a great season for the Lady Panthers and will leave the team with a lot to live up to in the upcoming season.
The preseason prediction came after a terrific 2023-24 season for the Lady Panthers. Last season, the team compiled a 17-11 overall record and finished the season with a 10-8 record in CIAA play. The finished the 2023-24 regular season ranked second in the CIAA Southern Division with a 9-3 division record and a 10-8 overall conference record. The team went on to the 2023-24 CIAA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament and reached the semifinal round after a dominating 71-45 win over the Shaw Lady Bears in the quarterfinal round.
The Lady Panthers will not only look to live up to the preseason prediction, but they will also look to surpass it. The Lady Panthers will combine a strong cast of returnees with some great newcomers. Senior guards
Jasmyn Jefferies and
Nya Morris will lead the way for the team. Last season, Morris was the team's second leading scorer with 417 points, and she led the team with 88 steals. Alongside Morris' scoring efforts, Jefferies finished the 2023-24 season as the CIAA leader with 131 total assists. Joining the Lady Panthers this fall will be
Alexia Grant, a senior guard transfer from Appalachian State alongside junior center
Emaree Hinton, a center transfer from Chowan University.
The Lady Panthers will kick off the 2024-25 season on November 15
