ORANGEBURG, SC - It was all hands on deck for the Claflin Panthers (2-3) who rolled to an 86-46 Homecoming win over the Voorhees Tigers (0-5), Saturday. The Panthers took the win behind a balanced attack to take the win.
The Panthers were especially tough on the defensive end. As a team, the Panthers held Voorhees to shooting just 35.3% (18-of-51) from the floor. Offensively, the Panthers spread the love around with five players reaching double-digit scoring in the game. Claflin senior guard
John Whitehead, III, led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds in the game. He also hit four three-pointers along the way. Senior guard
Jailen Williams added 13 points with a block, two steals, and three assists as well. Senior forward
Zion Obanla had 10 points with seven rebounds. Junior forward David Onyekwonwu and sophomore guard
Cristian Sanon both came off the bench for 10 points each. Onyekwonwu added five rebounds as well.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 2-3 overall. The team will return to action, Tuesday, evening when the team hosts the Lee (Tenn.) Flames in a 5:30 p.m. game.
