ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (2-3) took the lead into the final minutes but ended the afternoon with a heartbreaking 74-72 loss to the Lee (Tenn.) Flames (4-0), Tuesday evening. With a 72-72 tie, the Panthers allowed a Flames lay-up with just two seconds left to take the loss.
 
The Panthers played a solid overall game in the loss. As a team, the Panthers shot a solid 44.4% (24-of-54) from the field, including hitting 10 three-pointers. Senior guard John Whitehead, III, led the way for the team with 24 points. Fellow senior Jailen Williams added 15 points with three steals.
 
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 2-4 to start the season. The team will return to action, Saturday, when they head to nearby Aiken, South Carolina to take on the USC Aiken Pacers.
