ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (6-4, 2-2 CIAA) clamped down on defense to claim a 57-42 win over the Elizabeth City State Vikings (4-7, 1-2 CIAA), Thursday afternoon. The win marked their second straight strong defensive effort as the Lady Panthers held their opponents to under 50 points for the second straight game.
As a team, the Lady Panthers dominated both ends of the court. The Lady Panthers held Elizabeth City State to shooting just 30.4% (14-of-46) from the floor. The team also forced 25 turnovers. Offensively, the Lady Panthers were powered by a great effort from senior guard
Nya Morris. She finished the game with 25 points and four steals. Freshman center
Olivia Randolph added another strong game with seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action to close out 2024 when they host the Virginia State Trojans in a 2:00 p.m. game.
