COLUMBIA, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (1-4) took their time getting warmed up, but the team broke out to take a 9-4 road win over the Allen Yellowjackets (0-3), Sunday afternoon. After taking a 4-3 deficit into the fifth inning, the Lady Panthers scored six unanswered runs to claim the 9-4 victory.
The Lady Panthers combined some clutch hitting with some smart base running to claim the win. It took just six hits for the Lady Panthers to finish the game with nine runs. Claflin freshman
Morgan Tate led they way with a two-for-four batting effort with four runs batted in (RBI) with a run scored. The effort included a home run. Fellow freshman catcher
Jeniah Williams added a one-for-four batting effort with a run scored and an RBI.
Claflin senior pitcher
Jaelyn Jackson (1-2) claimed the pitching win. She came in for four innings and she finished the game with nine strikeouts and just one run allowed (one earned) with no walks. Freshman
Ava Brown got the start and she threw three innings with three runs allowed (one earn) on six hits.
