ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (0-1) opened the 2024 regular season on a down note when the team took a three-set loss to the Brewton Parker Barons (3-0), Thursday evening. The team put on a solid effort, but they could not quite overcome some tough Barons defense in the 8-25, 22-25, and 19-25 loss.
As a team, the Lady Panthers struggled to find their way on offense. The Lady Panthers finished the match with 20 total kills and 25 attack errors. Sophomore outside hitter
Mya Sumter led the way with seven kills in the match while senior utility
Keymara Coleman added six kills. Senior setter
Jakeya Paylor added nine digs.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 0-1 on the season. The team will return to action, Monday when they head to Augusta, Georgia to take on the Paine Lions.
