FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (3-20, 3-10 CIAA) put on a terrific effort, but the team ended the night with a four-set road loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (16-4, 12-1 CIAA), Thursday evening. In a match that featured several close calls and comebacks by each team, the Lady Panthers came up just short in the 25-19, 23-25, 14-25, and 22-25 loss against one of the top teams in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
 
The Lady Panthers played one of their best matches of the season despite the loss. As a team, the Lady Panthers compiled 32 kills with just 13 errors. The team had a balanced attack with the freshman trio of Aryanna Connell, Grayson Graham, and Zaniya Harris each recorded seven kills in the match. Senior setter Siri Davis led the effort with 12 assists and four service aces. Freshmen libero Abigail Watts added 12 digs.
 
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 3-20 overall and 3-10 in CIAA play. The team will return to action, Monday when they head to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the Shaw Lady Bears.
