Lady Panthers Place Third at 2025 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Claflin Lady Panthers worked their way into a third place finish at the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. The Lady Panthers scored a total of 90 points to earn their highest finish since joining the CIAA.
The Lady Panthers really stood out in track events to help secure their terrific finish. Claflin sophomore sprinter
Jadah Rasool set the tone when she placed second in the women's 60m dash with a 7.68. Fellow sophomore
Obiageli Akubude added a third-place finish in the women's 60m hurdles when she recorded a personal record 8.63. Freshman
Brea Childs placed third in the women's 200m dash with a 25.09. The Lady Panthers' 4x400m relay also had a great day when they placed second in the event with a 3:51.71.
Track events weren't the only area that the Lady Panthers dominated. The team also had some great field events efforts as well. Claflin sophomore
Jhnyia Knuckles led the way when she won the women's triple jump with a 39'3.75" (11.98m) mark. Freshman
Morgan Coverson-Springs added a second-place finish in the event with a 38'7.75" (11.78m). Sophomore
Zhaire Mack placed second in the women's high jump with a 5'2.25" (1.58m) mark.
The Lady Panthers' third-place finish marks the team's highest finish since joining the CIAA. Last season, the Lady Panthers placed fifth, tying their previous highest placed finish.
The team will return to action, Saturday, when they head to nearby Columbia, South Carolina to take part in the USC Invite.
