Morris Named to D2CCA All-Region Team
ORANGEBURG, SC - Claflin senior guard
Nya Morris will need to make more room on her trophy case after she was named to the 2024-25 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Region Team, Thursday morning. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native earned first team honors for the NCAA Division II Atlantic region.
Morris took home the honor after an historic season with the Lady Panthers. Earlier this season, she was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Year and she also earned first team All-CIAA honors as well. In doing so, she became the first Lady Panther since former Lady Panther Ashley Fields to earn All-CIAA honors and she became the first Lady Panther to be named the CIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year. During the season, she also became the first Lady Panther to score over 1,000 career points during her career.
It was Morris' offensive performance that earned Morris the honors. This season, she led the CIAA in scoring, averaging 19.8 points per game and totaling 554 points. The season included her scoring a then-career high 29 points at Livingstone and she follow the effort with a career-high 32-point effort in a win over Winston-Salem State. Currently, Morris is ranked 12
th in the nation in scoring.
