Claflin’s Bonner Selected for Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game

CHARLOTTE, NC - Though the season may be over, the work isn't done for Claflin junior Elijah Bonner, who was selected to participate in the Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Game. Scheduled to take place on May Saturday, May 31st in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the game will feature some of the top players in Historically Black College & University Baseball.
 
Bonner earned his spot on the team after a terrific season for the Panthers. He played in 21 games with 11 starts for the Panthers. He did the bulk of his work on the mound, playing in 14 games on the mound for the team with eight starts. He finished the season with 40 strikeouts and totaled 62 innings on the mound. He also added three hits with a run batted in (RBI) for the team as well.
 
The Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Game will be held at Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. The game will be the highlight of HBCU All-Star Weekend, an entire weekend of events spotlighting the best in HBCU baseball and marching band culture. In addition to the all-star game on Saturday, the weekend will also include an HBCU Battle of the Bands on Thursday, the Minority Softball Prospects All-Star Softball Game, and the MBP Helping Hands Touch Clinic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21st.
