Campbell, Mungenast Named to Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction

Xavier Campbell were both named to the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Team of Academic Distinction, presented by Barnes & Noble. In addition to the Panthers' terrific play on the field, the duo was honored for their equally impressive efforts on the diamond.
The Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction is comprised of student-athletes who have competed in at least half of the team's competitions and either be a starter or significant contributor and have achieved a 3.05 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) and completed at least one full academic year at his current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
This season, both Campbell and Mungenast earned their spots on the team through their efforts both on and off the field. Mungenast was an iron man for the Panthers after starting in all 45 of the team's games at the catcher position this season. He also finished the season as the team's second-best hitter with a .294 batting average and 22 runs scored, also the second-most on the team. Academically, he finished the year with a 3.876 cumulative grade-point average.
While Mungenast did the catching, many of the pitches came from Campbell. The junior from Fayetteville, Georgia, threw 56.1 innings for the Panthers. He finished the season as the team's leader with 41 strikeouts. Academically, he finished the year with a 3.564 cumulative grade-point average.
The Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction is a part of the conference's larger initiative to celebrate the academic achievements of PBC student-athletes.
