ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (0-5) did not go down without a fight when the team put up a great effort in a three-set loss to the neighboring South Carolina State Bulldogs (2-7). The Lady Panthers made each set of the match a thrilling affair, falling 23-25, 23-25, and 17-25.
The Lady Panthers had a tough time against the South Carolina State defense. The team was held to 23 total attacks in the loss. The Lady Panthers also recorded five service aces. Claflin freshman
Zaniya Harris led the attack with nine kills, a service ace, and a block (none solo). Fellow freshman
Aryanna Connell added seven kills with a service ace. Claflin freshman libero
Abigail Watts led the Claflin defense with 16 digs.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 0-5 on the season. The team will return to the road for their next action when they head to Fort Valley, Georgia to take on the Fort Valley State Wildcats.
