ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (7-6, 4-0 CIAA) clicked on all cylinders when the team rolled to a 79-54 win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (4-12, 2-3 CIAA), Thursday evening. The Panthers combined a strong offensive effort with some solid defense to claim the win.
As a team, the Panthers played a solid overall game. The team scored 79 points, just three fewer than their season average while shooting 51.6% (33-of-64) from the floor. Claflin junior guard
Horace Jacques, Jr. led the way for the team with 23 points in the game. Sophomore center
Alex Atkinson added a near double-double with 14 points and eight rebounds as well. Junior center
Lyonel Hodges rounded out the Panthers' scoring leaders with 10 points in the game.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 7-6 overall and remain an undefeated 4-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Saturday when they host the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions.
