PEACHTREE CITY, GA - The Claflin Panthers (2-2) got their second straight win in dramatic fashion when the team claimed an 11-10 road win over the Clark Atlanta Panthers (3-1), Sunday afternoon. Claflin took the win behind some timely hitting and clutch defense for their second straight victory.
The win was a dramatic one with the visiting Panthers coming out on top. After the two teams took a 10-10 tie into the ninth inning, Claflin broke the tie with a solo home run from sophomore second base
Devyn Campbell that broke the tie. From there, the Panthers clamped down on defense in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.
The Panthers took the win behind a great day at the plate. The team totaled 18 hits in the game and scored 11 runs for the win. Claflin senior outfielder
Devin Tallington led the way for team, going two-for-five at the plate with two runs scored and a double. Senior outfielder
Christian Hill added a three-run home run.
On the mound, Claflin sophomore pitcher
Olin Evans (1-0) got the pitching win. Freshman
Sean Brown got the start. He threw five innings for the Panthers. He left the game with two strikeouts. Senior
Xavier Campbell came in for an inning, recording a strikeout. Evans came in to close out the final three innings of the game. He finished the game with four strikeouts and just one earned run allowed.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 2-2 overall. The two teams would meet to close out the doubleheader later in the day.
