2022: Rufus had a solid season with the Panthers. He finished the season with a .253 batting average that included going 25-for-99 at the plate with two doubles and a home run. He also added 12 runs batted in (RBI) with 17 runs scored.
 
Personal: Rufus joined the Panthers in the fall of 2021. He came to Claflin after attending Ferrum College. He is a graduate of Western Branch High School where he earned several honors. He helped to lead the team to the 2017 Virginia 6A State Championship. For his efforts, he earned a spot on the all-conference team in 2016 and 2018. He also earned all-region and all-state honors at the outfielder position. He was equally impressive in the classroom where he was named a 200 Honor Scholar and he earned a 3.1 grade-point average. He is a Business Administration major, and he is the son of Angel Watson and Rufus Hurdle, Sr.
