Claflin Softball Host Albany State in SIAC Series

Orangeburg, S.C.—After playing its last nine games on the road, the Claflin University softball returns home to host Albany State in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) three-game series this weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 20-21.  First pitch for Friday's game is set for 5 p.m.  Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 2 p.m. first pitch.  All Lady Panthers softball games are played at the Adden Street Field in Orangeburg and are free and open to the public.
 
Claflin, who finished 2-3 in the SIAC Crossover, enters the weekend 13-7 overall and 5-2 in the SIAC.  Senior Markea Sheppard leads the way for the Lady Panthers with a .600 batting average and 93 percent fielding percentage.  On the season she has 30 hits, 25 runs, including three homeruns, and 19 RBI's.
 
The Lady Panthers will travel to Charlotte, N.C., next Tuesday, March 24 to face Johnson C. Smith University in a non-conference doubleheader.
