Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team will host Benedict, this weekend, Friday-Saturday, Apr. 17-18, in its final Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series of the 2015 season. The series, which will determine the third seed in the East Division of the SIAC, will get underway on Friday with a 5 p.m. single game.
Saturday's doubleheader will have a 12 noon first pitch with the second game starting at approximately 2 p.m. Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, the senior members of the softball team will be honored.
Claflin enters the series with a 17-14 overall record and 7-9 in the SIAC. The Panthers currently has one less win (6-6) in the East Division than Benedict who enters the series with an 11-24 overall record, 6-10 SIAC record and 6-6 East Division record.
Both teams have secured a position in the SIAC post-season tournament which will be played next week, Thursday-Saturday, Apr. 23-25, at T.S. Martin Park in Columbia, S.C.
