Claflin Softball Travels to Benedict for its Final SIAC Series

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team will travel to Columbia, S.C. to face rivals Benedict College in its final Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Series (SIAC) of the season.  The Lady Panthers will close the regular season next Thursday, Apr. 21, in a makeup game with Albany State in Albany.
 
Claflin, who sits atop the SIAC East Division, enters the weekend with a 28-19 overall record and 15-3 in the SIAC.  Freshmen LaKaylin Lee and Jamelah Thomas leads the Lady Panthers in batting with .420 and .400, respectively.
 
As a team, Claflin is batting .320 as a team with 414 hits including 49 homeruns.
 
Benedict enters the weekend with a 14-18 overall record and 8-7 in the SIAC.  Starkeia Daniel leads the team in batting with a .424 average.  The Lady Tigers as a team is batting .288.
 
After next Thursday's game, the Lady Panthers will head to Hampton, Ga. to participate in the 2016 SIAC Championships.
