Claflin Open SIAC Play Against Albany State

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team will open its 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, March 11-12, when they host Albany State University in a three-game series.
 
Saturday's double-header get underway at 1 p.m. while Sunday's single is set for a 2 p.m.  Both games will be played at the Adden Street Field.
 
Claflin enters the weekend with a 9-11 overall record. 
 
Tiaria Norman is leading the Panthers in batting with a .419 average.  Norman is also leading the the pitching staff with a 5-2 overall record and a 3.12 ERA.
 
Chelise Morman is second in batting with a .371.
 
Claflin, as a team is batting .370.
 
Albany State, who enters with a 7-12 overall record and 3-0 in the SIAC, is lead in batting by Jala Stewart with a .417 average.
 
Tiffany Massey is leading the team on the mound with a 5-2 overall record and 3.35 ERA.
 
After this weekend, Claflin will head to Jasper, Ala. next week, Thursday-Saturday, March 16-18, to participate in the SIAC Crossover Tournament, where they will compete against to West Division teams of the conference.
