Claflin Split Non-conference Softball Doubleheader with USC-Aiken

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with USC-Aiken, winning game one 4-1 and falling in game two 6-2.
 
With the split, the Lady Panthers goes to 18-15 on the season.
 
USC-Aiken improves to 19-15 overall.
 
In game one of the doubleheader, LaKaylin Lee went 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI.  Lee's RBI single opened the scoring for the Claflin in the bottom of the third.
 
Kayla Cato had a two-run homer in the fifth inning to give the Lady Panthers the 3-0 lead.
 
The Pacers scored one run in the sixth but an RBI single by Chelsea Hall scored Lee to push the lead by to three.
 
Shaquailla German was the winner of game one.
 
USC-Aiken scored two runs in the third, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to jump out for a six run advantage. 
 
Claflin picked up two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Givens provided the offense in game two knocking out a double to bring in the Lady Panthers first run of the game.
 
A ground out to second scored Givens for the second run.
 
Tiaria Norman was the losing pitcher of record.
 
Claflin will travel to Atlanta, Ga. this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2, to face Clark Atlanta in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference three-game series.
