Claflin University Sweeps Benedict in SIAC Softball Doubleheader

Chelsea Hall Steals 200th Base in Her Career

Orangeburg, S.C.—Senior Chelsea Hall, the Lady Panthers all-time leading base stealer, stole her 200th career base as the Claflin University softball team defeated Benedict, 14-3 and 7-3, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader in Orangeburg.  The wins secure the series over Benedict.

The teams will meet in the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Adden Street Field.

With the victories the Lady Panthers improve to 23-15 overall and 12-2 in the SIAC.

Benedict fall to 22-17 and 10-4 in the SIAC.

Hall, who finished the day with five runs, three hits and four RBIs, stole two bases in game one and one in game two en route to picking up her 200th.

LaKaylin Lee finished the day with three runs, two hits and a RBI and Kayla Cato knocked out her sixth homerun of the season for Claflin in the wins.

Tiaria Norman and Shaquailla German were the winners of games one and two, respectively.

Benedict was led on the day by Brianna Billie who had three hits with two runs.

Torcealon Kelly also had two runs while Khayreyah Parrish and Amari Lawson had one run apiece for the Lady Tigers in the loss.

Taylor Roberts and Kendell James were the losers of games one and two, respectively.
