Claflin Softball Returns to SIAC Action at Albany State

Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University softball team will return to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play this Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, when they travel to Albany, Ga. to take on the Lady Rams of Albany State.

The three game conference series gets underway with a single game on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m. with the doubleheader slated for Saturday, March 25 is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Claflin, who dropped a doubleheader to Augusta University on Wednesday (March 21), enters the weekend with a 13-18 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC.

The Lady Panthers has four players batting over 300 led by Kayla Cato who is batting .379. Cato also leads the team with 29 runs, 36 hits and seven homeruns.

LaKaylin Lee is batting .360 with six homeruns, Chelise Morman is averaging .346 with four homeruns and Tiaria Norman rounds out the 300 hitters batting at .333 with three homers.

As a team, Claflin is batting .305.

Albany State brings an 11-14 overall and 7-0 SIAC conference.

The Lady Rams split with Georgia Southwestern, winning game one 5-1 and dropping game two 11-0.

Brianna Murillo is leading the team in batting at .465 with seven homeruns.

Albany State is batting .304.

Claflin will host USC-Aiken on Wednesday, March 28 in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Adden Street Field in Orangeburg.
