Claflin Track & Field Record Several Personal Best at Carolina Challenge

Columbia, S.C. – The Claflin University women's and men's track and field team continues to improve with each meet as members of both Panther teams set personal best on Friday, Jan. 31, at the USC "Carolina Challenge" hosted by the University of South Carolina.

On the women's side, Faith McKie ran her best-ever time in the 400 meters, running a 59.45. Freshman Nytajah Smalls and Alliyah Allwood, who are running in just their third indoor meet of their collegiate career each ran personal best in their respective events.

Smalls recorded her personal best in the mile with a time of 6:32.62 while Allwood accomplished the feat in the 60 meters, finishing 12 out of 80 competitors with a time of 7.89.

On the men side, Derick St. Jean continued to run solid, placing 9^th overall in the 400 meters with a time of 48.58.

Setting personal best on the men side were sophomore Matthew Rox in the long jump with a distance of 20-03.75 (6.19 meters) along with freshmen Caleb Patterson in the mile with a time of 4:51.49 and JadaKiss Miller who clocked a time of 50.93.

Both Panthers teams will look to continue their upward climb next weekend when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to participate in the Camel City Invitational.
