Claflin Lady Panthers Host Johnson C. Smith in CIAA Contest

Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University Lady Panthers will play host to Johnson C. Smith University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division women's contest at the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Wellness Complex (Tullis Arena), Saturday (Feb. 8).
 
Action gets underway at 1:30 p.m.  The contest will be designated the Barefoot Game in support of the CIAA partnership with Samaritan's Feet.  The Claflin department of athletics will be collecting loose change with the proceeds going to Samaritan's Feet.
 
The game will also be a blackout and fans are encouraged to wear black.
 
This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season as Johnson C. Smith outscored Claflin 86-71 at home.
 
In the contest, the Lady Panthers had four players to score in double-figures led by Dashia Jackson with a team-high 19 points.  Jackson recorded a double-double, pulling in a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Dionna Long dropped in 18 while Shakarri Mack and Breanna Mack added 15 and 12, respectively.
 
Johnson C. Smith was led in the contest by Aubrianna Bonner who scored a game-high 29 points. 
 
Claflin will enter the contest at 1-21 and 1-12 in the conference.
 
The Lady Panthers is led in scoring this season by Dionna Long at 12.7 points followed Dashia Jackson at 12.0 points. Shakarri Mack rounds out the double-figure scoring for Claflin at 10.6 points.  Jackson and Mack leads the team in rebounding at 5.4 and 5.0, respectively.
 
Johnson C. Smith, 13-9 and 8-4 on the season is led in scoring by Le'Zarea Bowens with 11.9 points and Aubriana Bonner at 10.9 points.
 
On the season, Claflin is averaging 54.4 points per game and is allowing 68.9 points per outing.
 
Following the game with Johnson C. Smith, the Lady Panthers will be on the road for two games next week against Fayetteville State (Feb. 13) and Livingstone College (Feb. 19).
