Big Second Half Lifts Lady Panthers to 67-58 Win Over Winston-Salem State

ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (9-7, 3-5 CIAA) broke out for a big second half when the team took a 67-58 win over the Winston-Salem State Rams (7-11, 1-7 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After heading into halftime with a three-point deficit, the Lady Panthers stormed back for a great second half to claim their fifth straight win.
 
The Lady Panthers combined some stifling defense with some solid offense to claim the win. The team held their opponents to shooting just 37.5% (24-of-64) from the field and forced 20 turnovers. Four Claflin players reached double-digit scoring in the game with junior guard Lauren Scott leading the way. She finished the game with 17 points and two steals in the game. Senior guard Nya Morris added 15 points with nine rebounds. Senior Destiny Coleman added 11 points with eight rebounds while sophomore guard Jasmyn Jefferies added 10 points with three rebounds.
 
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 9-7 overall and 3-5 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Wednesday, when they head to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on Saint Augustine's.
