AUGUSTA, GA - The Claflin Lady Panthers (5-4) dominated every aspect of the game to take a 96-49 road win over the Paine Lions (0-10), Monday afternoon. In addition to the Lady Panthers' powerful offensive attack, the team put on a defensive showcase to claim the win.
As a team, the Lady Panthers clicked on all cylinders. Their defensive performance was what stood out in the game. The Lady Panthers recorded a stunning 11 blocks in the game and added 15 steals. When the game ended, the Lady Panthers forced 24 turnovers. Claflin freshman center
Olivia Randolph had seven blocked shots in the game. Senior guard
Nya Morris added to the defensive showcase when the added six steals. Offensively, Morris had her typical spectacular performance with 23 points and two assists in the game. Fellow senior guard
Janelle Sample got in on the action as well with 20 points and six rebounds. As a team, the Lady Panthers shot 44.0% (37-of-84) from the field.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 5-4 overall. The team will return to action, Thursday when the team hosts the Elizabeth City State Vikings. The game is set for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
