ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (6-5, 2-3 CIAA) had rough night when the team took a 63-56 loss to the Virginia State Trojans (8-3, 2-1 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. Though the Lady Panthers gave a solid effort, the team could not get their offense in sync as they struggled to score points in the loss.
The Lady Panthers had their toughest offensive showing at home in the loss. In addition to scoring just 56 points, the Lady Panthers shot just 33.9% (20-of-59) from the floor. Claflin senior guard
Nya Morris once again powered the team's efforts with a game-high 23 points. She also added three steals an two assists in the game. Junior forward
Ashari Lewis has continued to perform well this season with 14 points and eight rebounds.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action in 2025 when they head to Bluefield, West Virginia to take on the Bluefield State Big Blue.
