FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (1-10, 1-3 CIAA) gave a great effort, but the team fell short in a three-set loss to the Bluefield State Big Blue (7-11, 4-0 CIAA), Friday afternoon. The Lady Panthers gave a solid effort in the match before falling, 22-25, 20-25, and 19-25.
The Lady Panthers took the loss in spite of solid team effort. As a team, the Lady Panthers totaled 35 kills with just 17 attack errors. The team also recorded a pair of service aces. Claflin freshman
Aryanna Connell led the way with 11 kills in the match. Fellow freshmen
Grayson Graham and
Zaniya Harris both added six kills each in the match. Claflin senior setter
Siri Davis added 13 assists while freshman setter
Nadia Embry added 13 assists as well.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, tomorrow, when they take on the Elizabeth City State Vikings in a 2:00 p.m. match.
