ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (14-7, 10-5 CIAA) closed home court on a high note when the team held off the Fayetteville State Broncos (18-4, 12-3 CIAA) for a 51-48 victory. The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, controlling the game from the very beginning and cruising to the win.
The Lady Panthers took the win behind a terrific defensive performance. The Lady Panthers held Fayetteville State to shooting just 32.1% (17-of-53) from the floor with 28 turnovers. Offensively, Claflin senior forward
Ashari Lewis led the way for the team with 17 points with three steals and a block. Claflin freshman guard
Makailah Davis added 11 points with three rebounds.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 14-7 overall and 10-5 in CIAA play. The team will close out the regular season when they head to Charlotte, North Carolina to take on the Johnson C.
