Claflin Baseball Goes to 2-1 After Two Days of Play in Post-Season Play

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 Marion, N.C. – After two days of play in the Division II Independent Baseball Tournament at Big League Camp in Marion, N.C., the Claflin University Panthers enter the final day of pool play at 1-2.
 
Claflin was successful in its tournament opener on Thursday (May 2), defeating Salem University 17-12 in a contest that last 5-1/2 hours as the result of two 30 minutes lightening delay. The contest was the first of two games played by the Panthers on the day. Claflin dropped a late-night 13-8 decision to Virginia State University in 11 innings.
 
On Friday (May 3), the Panthers fell to Bluefield State College for the first time this season, 13-6. Claflin swept a three-game series from Bluefield State during the regular season in Orangeburg.
 
The Panthers, now 24-17 on the season, will play its final pool play game on Saturday (May 4) at 3 p.m. against host Winston-Salem State University.
 
After Saturday games, teams will be seeded for Sunday (May 5) championship round according to their win-loss record in the tournament.
