WINSTON-SALEM, NC - It was all business for the Claflin University Lady Panthers (6-3, 4-0 CIAA) when the team took a four-set win over the Virginia Union Panthers (1-6, 0-4 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Panthers took the hard-fought 18-25, 25-23, 25-12, and 25-16 win.
As a team, the Lady Panthers put on one of their best offensive performances of the season against Virginia Union. The Lady Panthers totaled 44 kills in the match with only 18 attack errors. It was junior outside hitter
Simone Newell led the way for the Lady Panthers with 12 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Branch and sophomore outside hitter
Mya Broom both added 10 kills each in the match. Senior middle blocker
Sadaiya Edouard led the Lady Panthers defense with six block assists in the match.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action tomorrow when they take on the Shaw Lady Bears in an 11:00 a.m. match.
