Claflin Track and Field Teams Show Improvement at Gamecock Invite

Columbia, SC – The Claflin University men's and women's track and field teams showed vast improvement, Saturday (Apr. 10) during the Gamecock Invite hosted by the University of South Carolina at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
 
The Panther teams had several top twenty finishes in the meet.
 
Leading the way for the Panther men was Chander Anderson, who finished in 15th place in the 400- meters with a time of 49.71.  Also finishing in the top 20 were Antonio Walker and Jamario James who finished 16th and 17th, respectively in the shot put, along with Caleb Patterson, who clocked a 3:11.72 to finish 19th in the 1500 meters, and Michael Miller who finished 20th.
 
Zaria Nelson continued to lead the Lady Panthers as she finished seventh in the discus throwing 43.46 meters (142-07).
 
Both teams will be back at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track on Saturday, Apr. 17 to participate in the Gamecock Open.
