ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (9-7, 5-4 CIAA) had a tough night, Wednesday, when the team took a 66-62 loss to the Livingstone College Blue Bears (9-13, 7-5 CIAA). Shooting woes plagued the Lady Panthers throughout the entire game and cost the team in the tough loss.
The Lady Panthers' offensive struggles proved to be too much for the team to overcome in the loss. As a team, the Lady Panthers shot just 36.7% (22-of-60) in the loss. However, the team was impressive from long range with 11 three-pointers made in the game. Claflin junior forward
Ashari Lewis led the way with 18 points and six rebounds off the bench for the team. Senior guard
Janelle Sample added 15 points, including hitting five-of-10 three-pointers in the game.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Saturday, when they host the Winston-Salem State Rams at 2:00 p.m.
