Claflin Travels to Augusta for Mid-Week Contest

Orangeburg, S.C. -- The Claflin University baseball team will travel to Augusta University on Wednesday (Feb. 28) for a non-conference contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Lake Olmstead Stadium. The stadium is also the home of the Augusta Green Jackets, the local minor league affiliate.

This will be the first of two meeting between the two teams as Augusta will visit Orangeburg on April 25.

Claflin will enter the mid-week game freshoff a 21-6 routing of Bluefield State College in the finale of a three-game series this past weekend. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Panthers, now 2-12 on the season.

Augusta swept Georgia Southwestern over the weekend in a Peach belt Conference three-game series by the scores of 7-1, 8-4 and 11-9 (10 innings). The Jaguars hosted North Greenville University on Tuesday (Feb. 27) at home.

Augusta took both games from Claflin last season, 15-5 in Orangeburg and 10-4 at home.

After the matchup with Augusta, the Panthers will host The College of Saint Rose this weekend in a three-game series. A double-header is schedule for Saturday (Mar. 3), starting at 1 p.m. followed by a single contest on Sunday (Mar. 4) at 2 p.m.
