SPARTANBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (2-1) took their defensive showcase on the road when the team claimed a 76-42 win over the Converse Valkyries (0-5), Tuesday. The Panthers put on another terrific defensive performance when they held the Valkyries to just 42 points on their home court while rolling to a second straight victory.
The Lady Panthers put on a pair of great performances on both sides of the court in the win. As a team, the Lady Panthers scored 76 points while shooting 48.4% (30-of-62) from the floor while holding the Valkyries to shooting just 26.8% (15-of-56) from the floor. Ashari Lewis continued her terrific play to start the season. She led the team with a near double-double 14 points and eight rebounds in the game. Sophomore guard
Mia Lewis added 12 points as well. Sophomore guard Tecoya Heyward led the Lady Panthers' rebounding efforts with 11 rebounds in the game.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 2-1 overall. The team will get a break before returning to the court. They will head to nearby Denmark, South Carolina to take on the Voorhees Tigers on December 8th.
