Louis Anderson was a standout member of the Claflin Panthers football and basketball teams from 1958-1961. During his career, he earned All-SEAC honors at the tight end/defensive end from 1958-1960. He also earned All-SEAC honors in basketball from 1958-1960 and led the Panthers to an SEAC Championship during the 1958-59 season.
Following his collegiate career, Anderson went on a great professional career that included serving as the head football coach at Virginia State University for 11 years where he compiled a 65-40 record. While leading the Trojans, he captured two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championships (1995, 1996) and he earned CIAA Coach of the Year honors twice. At the high school level, he served as the head coach at Armstrong, Marshall-Walker and Maggie L. Walker High Schools where he compiled a 153-82-3 record.
